LOTinConcert: Ernst Lima / Julia Witas

Ernst Lima (*Aquarius) is a transmedia artist, composer, and sound designer working at the intersection of experimental sound, visual art, and performance. Their practice unfolds through immersive soundscapes, instal lations, sculptural compositions, and performances that explore transitional states of presence, embodiment, and technological fluidity.
Lima’s artistic universe is rooted in the liminal – spaces between memory and anticipation, body and technolo gy, presence and absence. Across their works, Lima constructs sonic architectures that explore the hauntologi cal dimensions of contemporary existence – spaces where the past reverberates within the present and meaning hovers in spectral, often unsettling suspension.
Central to Lima’s approach on stage is the electric guitar, used not merely as an instrument but as a prosthetic extension of the body, channelling raw emotional resonance into processed textures. Through granular syn thesis, pedalboard sculpting, algorithmic data streams, and voice, Lima creates sonic environments that are at once intimate and vast, forging visceral connections with the audience.
Their genre-fluid works resist fixed classification, drawing from experimental electronics, electroacoustics, mantric lyrics, and cinematic atmospheres to create immersive worlds that blur sensory, spatial, and emotional registers.

Julia Witas is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of music, film, and performance. Exploring themes of grief, death, nature, and dreams, her work delves into the emotional and transformative dimensions of sound and memory, crafting cinematic compositions that move between devouring, dark distortion and poetic fragility. Characterized by emotional intensity and visceral immediacy, her performances unfold as captivating, hypnotic experiences.
